Formula One Castle Rock 10k 2025 RACE DAY INFO
Posted by Katie Bonner on 30 July 2025
Please read on for the key race information.
Timings:
The Event Race Village will be open from 6pm and the race will start at 7pm.
Please note the start line is not at the race village, you will be directed to the start approximately 20 minutes before.
Number Collection:
You will need to collect your number from the Race Village, please arrive from 6pm and head to the Registration Desk. Please be patient with our volunteers when collecting your race number. Your number will come with a shoe chip timing.
Race Location:
The University of Nottingham's University Park campus is easily accessible by public transport or car. However, we encourage public transport where possible as campus can get busy. It is also important to please allow extra time to get to campus due to current road works on the A52 between the Priory and QMC roundabouts. The Race Village is located near the University’s David Ross sports centre and near the De Vere Hotel, between Rutland and Sherwood Halls. What3Words: punks.bland.scan
Public transport: NCT no.34 from city centre will drop off on campus, nos.35 & 36 and Barton’s Indigo buses will drop halfway down the A52 from the city; no.36 from Beeston or Indigo from Long Eaton/Derby direction; the University Boulevard NET tram stop is a 10min walk from race village. From the tram stop walk towards Lakeside Arts, turn left and walk with the lake on your right side past the bridge and stepping stones until the path curves right. Turn right (as though you're about to walk down the other side of the lake) but a dog-leg to the left will take you to the bottom of Jubilee Avenue. Jubilee Avenue becomes Beeston Lane and following Beeston Lane will take you the race village near Rutland and Sherwood Halls. (What3Words: punks.bland.scan)
Parking: Please car share where possible to reduce the congestion on campus. Give yourself extra time to arrive and be prepared to park a 10-minute walk from the race village.
There are various parking spots throughout the campus, with car parks on Beeston Lane behind the race village, and Lenton Hall Drive at the top of the Downs grassy areas. Please use dedicated parking spaces and do not park on the grass or verges. After 5pm there are no parking costs. DO NOT PARK on Beeston Lane at the David Ross Sports Centre or the Conference Centre.

Derby Hall: tender.assure.tape
Lincoln Hall: inform.audio.yours
Lenton Hall Drive (at the top of the Downs): pilots.mice.report is a good starting point, although there are parking spots along there in both directions.
The Route:
The course: two circuits of a 5k route. It is a mixture of private road, hard or gravel paths. There is only one narrow area (single file for about 100 metres) on the path underneath the Trent Building as you loop around the lake. Check it out on Strava or online.
Please note: we do not have exclusive use of the course route. Roads are open, so be mindful of traffic. Please be courteous to other visitors on campus and at Lakeside. No headphones - including bone conductor headphones - will be allowed on the course, and any runners seen wearing them will be disqualified.
Race Village:
After your run join us in the Race Village for prize giving, food and drink, and a post-race massage. Castle Rock Brewery will be down with a mobile bar (selling beer, gin and non-alcoholic alternatives!). Oh So Toastie will be serving food (veggie and vegan options available). Up and Running will have a pop-up shop. And post-race tunes will be playing.
Water:
Water is provided at the c.5km mark and at the end. Be mindful of the weather and carry more on your person if you need.
Medical:
Our medical provider will be based at the race village but is mobile and will be around the course during the run. Marshals will be available at frequent spots along the route should you require assistance.
What do your entry fees cover:
A proportion of your entry fee will go toward supporting Maggies and CALM again this year. In 2024 we raised £2,000 that was split equally between each charity.
The rest of your entry fee goes towards the running costs of the event. This includes everything from first aid responders, insurance, porta-loo hire, generator hire, t-shirt costs etc. F1CC absorb a small amount back into the club to ensure the race can continue for future years' and to support our members in entering other races across the calendar year.
What makes the Formula One Castle Rock 10k so special is that it's organised by a small running club and a committee made up solely of volunteers giving up many hours of their free time to ensure a great experience for our entrants.
We thank you for choosing to support a local run organised by a local running club with your entry fee.
