Posted by David Vernau on 22 July 2019

2019 Formula One Castle Rock 10K:

Thank you for entering our race this year, we love being able to put on our race each year, give a little bit back to the running community and support charities close to our club.

We really hope you enjoy the race this year, and to help that happen we would really appreciate it if you spend a few minutes reading through this briefing.

Kind regards.

The Formula One Race Committee.

Pre-race information:

Registration and finish area:   Will be on the meadow adjacent to Rutland Hall, which is opposite the road entrance to the new David Ross sports centre.  The area will be well signed from the main road through the campus.

Number collection : Please note - all numbers are to be collected on the night. Number collection/registration will be open in the finish area from 17:30-18:45, please ensure that you arrive in good time.

Car parking : There is plenty of free parking on campus.  You can park for free in any of the Halls or Office Car Parks.  We do not recommend parking at the Conference Centre Car Park, it is not free and if you park without paying you will be liable for penalty charges.

Toilets & Changing : Will be available in the new David Ross sports centre.  Please note that the sports centre is approximately a 5 minute walk from the registration area and the the start line.

Bags : We are not able to provide a completely secure bag drop area.  We will however provide an area close to registration/finish at which runners can leave small bags at their own risk.  We would recommend that valuables are left locked in the boot of your car.

Getting to the start : The start is between 5-10 mins walk from the registration/finish area.  We will give out announcements leading up to race start but recommend that you leave the finish area and make your way to the start line at 18:50 latest.

Start : The start will be at 7pm prompt.

Course : The course will be the same as last year unless works on the University Park, force a change of route.  Please listen for instructions at the race briefing on the night.

Safety Briefing:

  • Listen to marshals instructions at all times.  There are several areas where marshals will instruct you to run on a particular side of the road.
  • We are proud to host athletes of all abilities, please run carefully and be mindful of others on the course.

Post-race information:

When you have finished please keep moving down the finish funnel.  When you have cleared the finish funnel you can go and collect your well earned goodies.  Please make sure that you leave you timing chip with one of our Marshalls, they are the property of our race timing crew and we reserve the right to charge for any unreturned chips.

In the finish area you will also find;

We ask that if you leave whilst the race is still in progress please take care to stay off the run course so that other runners can complete their race without obstruction.

Prizes and social:

Once again we will hold the post race social at the nearby university social club, family and friends are all welcome.  There will be plenty of beer available so you can relax and catch up with friends whilst our gang of volunteers get the results sorted and break down the course and finish area.  Be sure to take your race number with you and pop it in the box for a chance to win a spot-prize.

We aim to announce the results and winners of each category at the social club at around 9pm.  Following the award of prizes the bar will be open until about 22:30.
